How Much Do Vegas Strippers Make?

A woman on a stripper stage appearing to do accounting work with the article title in big letters

There’s a bit of a myth surrounding being a stripper in Las Vegas. It’s assumed that with all the “high-rollers” coming into town, a stripper in the right club at the right time can make a small fortune.

This is partially true, and the “right place, right time” part is extremely important.

But for the most part, a stripper’s income varies wildly, especially here in Vegas.

I’ve been around my fair share of strippers, and even dated a few here and there. Based on my experiences and what I’ve heard from those strippers, I’m going to break down how much these girls actually make.

But before we get started, I just want to make clear that this isn’t an article to knock strippers or make fun of what they earn. If anything, it should make you a little more empathetic and thankful they do what they do…at least the honest ones.

So, with that out of the way, let’s get into the explanations.

Understanding “Stripper Talk”

If you’ve spent any time around strippers, you’ve probably heard at least one of them throw out ridiculous earnings numbers. For example, a girl will say that she makes $2K per night as a stripper.

But let me explain how a stripper thinks and talks. If a stripper made $2K one night 5 years ago, they tell everyone they make $2k a night, every night.

Basically, a stripper takes the most she’s ever made in a weekend, and that’s what she claims she makes on an average night. Or at least that’s what she says when she’s trying to impress people or get her current customers to spend more money.

The reason I bring this up is that just asking a stripper what they earn will never get you a correct answer.

I’m not saying strippers are lying. In fact, I don’t think they even realize what they’re doing. They’re strippers, not accountants. So that one big night they had probably does feel like it should be the average.

It’s sort of like a gambler. They usually only remember the big wins and not the months of losses in between. So when you ask how they do, they tell you they’re up or breaking even.

Strippers are the same way.

I’ve Never Met or Dated a Wealthy Stripper

I go into more detail here about how I ended up knowing so many strippers and escorts, but after years and years, I’ve never met a wealthy stripper.

I don’t say that as an insult, either. I’m just helping people understand the money they make. I’ve met a few wealthy escorts, but not many. But there are a few.

I’ve met plenty of girls who became wealthy working in porn during the early internet gold rush. But that has mostly faded away these days.

But I’ve never met a wealthy stripper.

In fact, most don’t have a car.  If you go to a strip club at closing time, you’ll see all the girls getting picked up by their boyfriend or whoever is driving them.

Most live in apartments, and they’re almost always behind on rent. I’ve never dated a stripper who wasn’t always on the verge of getting kicked out.

And no, they weren’t playing for me for cash by pretending to be kicked out. I saw the notices on the door from the landlord.

The Reason Strippers Don’t Make Much Money

If strippers can actually make $2k a night, you might be wondering why they don’t have more money or anything to show for it.

Here’s why

Inconsistency: Stripper income is very inconsistent. They can have their best night ever on Saturday, then have 5 days where they barely take home $100 after expenses. So the average goes way down.

This is also why you can sometimes be fooled by a stripper. If they have a run of good nights, they can usually put enough cash together for some nice things. Designer clothes, maybe even a down payment on a decent car.

So if you run into them during this period, they seem to be raking in the cash.

But they eventually hit a slow spot, and they’re back to square one.

The house takes a big cut: At most clubs, for every $100 you spend on private dances, the club gets at least $25. For VIP rooms, it can be even higher. So whatever you pay a stripper, she usually gets no more than 75% of that money.

Every strip club also has a “stage fee”. Strippers don’t work directly for the club. They’re essentially contractors. The strippers pay the club a set fee to work each night. That fee can range anywhere from $40 to several hundred dollars, depending on the night and if any events are going on.

So, even though I’ve never met a stripper who paid her taxes, they all get “taxed” by the strip club pretty heavily.

What Does All This Mean For You, The Strip Club Customer

As I mentioned earlier, the point of this article isn’t to say every stripper is broke. It’s just to give people an idea of what the reality is for strippers.

For starters, don’t let a stripper make you feel “cheap” when she pretends that all of her other customers spend thousands of dollars. It’s never true. She’s just trying to make you feel jealous or goad you into trying to keep up with these imaginary customers she talks about.

Believe it or not, that works on a lot of guys. Don’t be one of them.

Secondly, customers should try to be as cool as possible with strippers. Of course, I’m talking about the good ones, not the thieves and scammers.

But the good strippers out there aren’t getting rich. They’re mostly just living month to month, and the service they provide can be amazing sometimes….at least if you meet the right ones.

So, the next time a stripper shows a little attitude or tries to hustle you a little bit, don’t take it so seriously. Just laugh it off and move on to another stripper.
