In what has become a national news story, the owner of the San Francisco 49ers NFL team was recently arrested for trying to arrange a hookup with an escort.
Since this site gives tips so you can avoid problems when enjoying strip clubs or escorts, I’m going to outline exactly what Jed York did wrong, and why he got himself busted.
If Jed York was smart and read my site, he could have avoided all of this trouble and still had the fun he was looking for.
The Number One Misconception on The Jed York Case
I see many people online commenting that Jed York could have just used some secret, high-end escort service that wealthy people have access to. They claim that with all his money, he could have hired much better escorts through some secret agency for billionaires.
Truth is, no such thing exists. I go into full detail in this article explaining that there is no such thing as high-end escorts for the wealthy. Billionaires use the same escorts as working class guys who are out of town for a boring business convention.
The idea of high-end escorts for rich guys is mostly just from TV and movies. They simply don’t exist.
With that being said, he really didn’t make a mistake in that respect. However, he did make some huge mistakes in how he chose the escort he ended up texting, and that’s what got him busted.
Mistake #1. Not Catching The Red Flags
Something I always talk about on this site is keeping an eye out for the red flags when choosing an escort. It’s very easy to let your guard down, especially when you see a picture of an escort you really like on a website.
You get an idea in your mind, and you push forward no matter how many warning signs flash up.
The biggest warning sign in the Jed York case was that the escort he was texting with was only charging $140.
In 2026, even cracked-out streetwalkers charge more than that. So any escort offering $140 for full service is either a scam or something else. In this case, it was a sting operation.
Another red flag was that she offered him “bare” service (no condom) for only $20 more. Once again, that’s completely unrealistic, and no legit escorts will offer bare service for just an extra $20.
Even in Tijuana strip clubs, which I explain in this article, the strippers charge more than that for bare service.
Note: Tijuana strip clubs are essentially brothels. If you want to learn more, check out the article linked above.
So, if you hear such low prices anywhere in America, it’s a scam and the person on the other end is just trying to get you to show up to rob you, or in this case, arrest you.
Mistake #2: Jed York Used a Flaky Escort Site
I often say that using escort review sites is the least risky way to find an escort, and that’s 100% true. But you have to use a legit escort website.
There are countless “scraper” or free escort sites which are filled with scammers and criminals. Those are not to be trusted in any situation.
The actual website Jed York used was not revealed, but I can assure you it was one of the scam sites that are all over the place.
Stick to the legit escort reviews sites, and your risk level goes way down.
Police Stings are Very Rare
I have an article here that explains how police prostitution stings are very rare these days. Police have mostly moved on from trying to catch adults who want to hire other consenting adults for a hook up.
However, the police report in the Jed York case stated that he texted several times before he heard back. So it’s possible the ad was posted by police a while ago, and nobody at the police department even realized someone had texted the number they used.
This is another reason you want to avoid the free escort sites where they don’t charge the escorts to post. It’s easier for the police to post fake ads.
On the sites where the escorts have to pay to post ads, it’s much harder for the police to create a fake account and run a random sting operation for a day or two.
Final Thoughts
Overall, some of the details about this case sound suspicious to me. So, in this article, I just covered what has come out in the official reporting.
However, in my opinion, there’s much more to the story, but I don’t want to speculate here as it’s pretty bad if my suspicions are true, so I’ll just let this case play out.
But in the end, Jed York pretty much broke every rule that I write about on this site, and his chances of being robbed or getting busted were almost 100% as soon as he sent that text.
In the end, it shows that if you follow the advice and information I post here, you can avoid having to go through things like Jed York just did.
It’s not rocket science, but you do need the right information.
