Las Vegas is known for a lot of things, mostly gambling, drinking, and other vices that attract millions of visitors from all around the world.
But one thing Vegas is also famous for is scams. With so many tourists coming through looking to score big, it’s ripe for scammers looking to make a quick buck.
This includes sex workers, escorts, and prostitutes around Las Vegas. When you mix men on vacation, alcohol, and hotel rooms, there are plenty of guys that these girls can target for a scam.
To help you avoid these, we’ll outline the most common Vegas hooker scams and how to avoid them. We’ll explain what to do if you get caught in the middle of a scam so you can walk away with as little trouble as possible.
Just remember, this is for informational purposes only and should not be considered legal advice in any way.
The Most Common Hooker Scams in Vegas
Every hooker scam involves getting money out of guys without providing any type of expected service. Although, there are variations to this that can make it sort of complicated.
For example, some hookers in Vegas will go part way through the act, but then stop in the middle and ask for more money. Some women won’t even start any activity before they start with their scamming.
These are essentially all variations on the “upsell” scam. Similar to normal retail, upselling involves both parties agreeing to a certain price and then one side continually asking for more money.
Below are the variations on this scam in Vegas.
The No-Service Upsell Scam
This one is probably the worst of all because you essentially get nothing for your money. You’ll meet the girl in a casino, or she’ll be sent to your room by a service, whichever you choose.
Once there, she asks for the “donation,” which is what you agreed upon for services. Once you pay, she may try to stall by using the bathroom or appearing to get ready. However, after a while she says the original payment was only the arrival fee. To actually have any sort of activities, it will cost more.
This keeps going on until the guy realizes it’s a scam or he runs out of cash on hand. Then the girl leaves, and the guy never gets anything.
The String-Along Upsell Scam
With this scam, the girl will usually initiate some kind of sexual contact and maybe even partial sex. However, pretty early on, she will stop and ask for money to “finish things”.
These girls use this scam because they think they have a higher chance of the guy paying when he’s already started to have some fun.
However, this scam will continue just like the other one until the guy realizes there’s a pattern or he runs out of money.
At least with this one, the guy got to have a little fun, but it’s still a scam.
The Bathroom Staller Scam
This scam can include both techniques from before. The girl may start out doing something sexual or not. But pretty soon after things start, she goes to the bathroom and ends up staying in there forever.
The goal is the guy loses his “stiffness” and then the girl just comes out and says it’s over and leaves with the initial payment without finishing the job.
Some girls do a variation on this by starting a fight or argument, one again to get the guy out of the mood so he can’t perform. Then she leaves with the money and blames the guy’s inability to stay hard.
Some hookers prefer this one because the guy is usually embarrassed and doesn’t realize the girl did it all on purpose as a scam. So, the guy is less likely to argue.
Robbery Scams: These Can Be Dangerous In Vegas
Robbery scams are far worse than the upsell scams I just explained. With these, the escort’s whole goal is to set you up for a robbery. Either she will rob you, or she’s working with others who will rob you.
Most guys don’t realize how easy it is to fall into this trap because they think they’ll be able to spot an escort that is a criminal who wants to rob them. But trust me, the sweetest women can turn out to be cold-blooded criminals in Vegas.
Below are the most common robbery scams from hookers in Las Vegas.
Text a Boyfirend or Pimp To Come To the Room
With this one, the girl will make a note of your room number before going inside with you. She’ll text her pimp or boyfriend the room number, who is usualy in the lobby already. Once she gets the guy to take his clothes off. She’ll text again to tell the pimp to come up to room.
He’ll knock and the girl immediately goes to open the door, letting in the pimp. The pimp then demands money and makes all kinds of threats.
Go through your wallet or pockets
This one is the most common and the hooker will sometimes go through with the services before doing this. When you’re in the bathroom or not paying attention and have your guard down, she steals your wallet or other valuables.
This one is very common and can happen when everything else about the encounter goes perfectly.
Wait Until You Fall Asleep
With this one, the hooker waits until you fall asleep and then robs you. This may seem uncommon, but guys are usually drinking, and it’s late at night. It’s not unusual after some sex to fall asleep. This is when the girl takes your stuff and sneaks out the door.
A more dangerous version of this is hookers who intentially try to drug clients. This happens more than you think and it’s why you should never accept drugs from a hooker or lose track of your drink.
The Phone Scam
We outlined this Vegas stripper scam here, and it’s the latest scam used by escorts too. The escort will try to get your phone and access to payment apps or crypto wallets. They’re clever, and they will sometimes pretend they want to exchange numbers or send you a nude pic. But they’re really checking out your phone for apps they can steal from.
How Often Do These Vegas Hooker Scams Happen?
Sadly, these are very common. If you pick up an escort in the casino, at least half of those girls will try to pull one of the above scams. If you use websites where Vegas escorts advertise, the number of scams is much lower as long as you carefully go over reviews before making an arrangement.
What To Do If You Get Scammed
Now that you know the most common hooker scams in Vegas, it’s time to go over what to do if it happens to you.
Never Fight With An Escort
If you get scammed or catch a woman scamming you, never fight her. This can quickly get out of control, and you can be looking at even more problems than just getting scammed.
Some of these girls are very good at egging people on to get a reaction, then they play the victim with security.
So never get into a fight, either physically or aggressively verbal.
If it was just a scam and you didn’t get the service you expected, you have to just let that go and consider it a lesson learned. There’s no way to get that money back and if you try to force the issue, you could end up in trouble yourself.
However, if you’ve been robbed instead of just scammed, you have more options.
If a girl steals something from you or your room, you can call hotel security. There will be a record of the call and what happened, but hotel security generally sides with hotel guests over escorts in these situations.
They may be able to track her down and recover your things. You can also file a police report, but once again, there will be a record of it.
Contrary to popular belief, they won’t care if she was an escort, and they know what was going on. Just don’t admit to prostitution and just say you met the woman and she came to your room. If there are texts between you and the escort, you don’t want to lie to police.
This isn’t legal advice, but in Vegas, it’s unspoken that they don’t go after the guy as long as they did nothing else illegal. But this is only if you get robbed. If you just got scammed, they generally won’t help you.
Final Advice To Avoid Scams
This article may make it seem like partying in Vegas is full of risks, and it sort of is. However, I have had some of the best times with strippers and escorts in this town. So, while it’s a risk, it can also be fun and an experience you can’t get anywhere else in the world.
Just be wise and never get in over your head. If something feels off, walk away and consider it a lesson learned. You can always try again another night since the party in Vegas never really ends.
