One question I get a lot is whether or not there are prostitution stings or undercover cops in Vegas posing as prostitutes.
Obviously, guys coming here don’t want to get caught up in any kind of sting, and sometimes they suspect a girl they’re talking to at the casino might be an undercover cop.
Below, I’ll go over everything I’ve seen about prostitution stings here in Vegas, both as a regular guy and from the hundreds of escorts I’ve talked to over the years.
Undercover Female Cops Posing as Hookers in Vegas: Fact or Fiction?
Personally, in my thousands of visits to the Vegas strip, I’ve never seen any type of undercover female cop posing as a hooker. You might be wondering how I can tell, and the reason is simple.
After talking to so many escorts over the years, especially here in Vegas, you start to get an idea of how they act, how they look, and how they carry themselves. Let’s just say, you won’t find many female cops who can pull off that look convincingly, except maybe on a TV show.
Also, many of the escorts who work in Vegas sort of know each other. If not personally, they know each other by looks. They walk the casinos several times a week, and they end up seeing each other at least once or twice, even in a crowded casino with thousands of other people.
A female cop who was undercover would be spotted instantly by the other escorts.
I’ve never once heard an escort tell me that they saw an undercover female cop, or even suspected another escort of being one.
Bottom line: There are no undercover female cops posing as escorts looking to bust tourists. It never happens.
Male Undercover Cops do Pose as Clients, Though
One thing I do hear all the time from escorts is that there are definitely male undercover cops looking to bust the girls. Sometimes they’re just looking for information and will strike up a conversation with the escorts.
From the escorts I’ve talked to who have encountered these undercover cops, they’re mostly looking for the hookers who rob tourists. We have an article on hooker scams here if you’re curious.
The undercover male cops are also usually on the lookout for prostitution rings or trafficking activity.
Generally, they don’t care too much about the independent escort who is just working the casino and making a living.
So the answer is 100% yes as far as male undercover cops running stings on prostitutes. But they generally only care about scammers, and I’ve never heard of them arresting or confronting any tourists who happen to be talking to escorts.
Does That Mean It’s Totally Safe in Vegas?
Not really. Escorts and guys still need to be aware of what’s going on. Vegas is almost shockingly tolerant of escorts. That means a lot of scammers come through town looking to take advantage of tourists.
Sometimes, a casino bar will have more escorts sitting there than customers.
Everybody knows what’s going on, but it’s completely accepted.
However, certain casinos occasionally get tired of it and will chase them out for a time. This is usually if there is a rash of scams or robberies reported by customers or guests staying at the casino.
But the hookers just go somewhere else, and eventually things cool down and they return to the original casino and start back up.
Final Tips
Bottom line is be smart and use your instincts. As a tourist, there aren’t many stings that target you as long as you’re doing anything that harms anybody.
